Enamels
This ancient technique has come down through the centuries and adapts wonderfully to precious metal clay creations. It is a slow, painstaking process to layer finely ground glass into tiny areas on the metal to create the brilliant colors you see here. Working with both opaque and transparent enamels, each piece can have up to 8 or more layers fired onto the base metal. Enamel also comes in a finely ground paste , like oil paints, that can be layered into miniature paintings.
